Antipasto Platter

Need a quick appetizer for New Year’s.  An Antipasto Platter is the perfect choice.  No cooking which makes this appetizer extremely easy.  The hardest thing you will need to do is marinate the cheese balls.

Antipasto means “before the meal” and is similar to French hors d’oeuvres or Spanish Tapas.  This recipe if for an Italian style Antipasto Platter.  However, you can vary the items to complement any meal you are planning.

An Antipasto Platter is made up of cured meats, cheese, artichoke hearts, peppers, cherry tomatoes, mixed olives, dried fruit and nuts.  Of course, you can add additional items, like marinated sliced fennel or marinated cooked seafood (shrimp) if you like.  Antipasto Platters are so festive and colorful, making this finished dish a great appetizer for any holiday celebration.

Once you have purchased your meats and cheeses, simply marinade the mozzarella balls in Italian dressing.  Truthfully, if you don’t have time to make your own, simply use a purchased Italian dressing.  Then arrange everything on your serving platter. Serve with Breadsticks and/or sliced Focaccia.

This Antipasto Platter is simple and quick to make.  It is colorful sure to impress your family and friends.

A quick and colorful appetizer for a party.

Ingredients
  • Simple Antipasto Platter
  • Pitted Dates
  • Peanuts or Mixed Nuts
  • Dried Apricots
  • Grapes
  • Prosciutto, thinly sliced
  • Feta Cheese
  • Genoa salami, thinly sliced
  • Provolone cheese
  • Sopressata, thinly sliced
  • Cherry or grape tomatoes
  • Fresh mozzarella cheese balls, marinated
  • Breadsticks
  • Mixed olives, drained


  • NOTES: Amounts depends on how many guests you are having

    Extended Platter Additional Items
  • Fresh Figs,sliced in half lengthwise
  • Artichoke hearts, marinated
  • Roasted red peppers, drained
  • Pepperoncini, drained
  • Shrimp
Directions
  • Step 1 Marinade the mozzarella balls in an Italian dressing.
  • Step 2 Arrange each ingredient on your serving tray.
  • Step 3 Serve with Italian Breadsticks and/or sliced Focaccia.
