Heirloom Tomato Salad
What did I have for dinner tonight? A flavorful Heirloom Tomato Salad.
I was able to pick up some Heirloom Tomatoes. Unfortunately, they only had one type which is more of the Brandywine Heirloom Tomato. When I grow them myself or get them from the Farmer’s Market, I typically get more variety and colors like in the photo below. Still, these have so much sweet tomato flavor, that I’m happy. The best way to use these is to make a wonderful Heirloom Tomato Salad.
This composed salad is very simple to make.
On a large plate or serving platter, layer the sliced tomatoes. Next add the Sun Gold tomatoes (whole or cut in half). Then add the shaved red onions, capers and mozzarella balls.
Place your basil chiffonade over the top. Season with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper.
Finally, drizzle a good balsamic vinegar over everything or you can use your favorite salad dressing as an alternative.
