Asian Turkey Burgers

I have to be honest.  I am not a fan of Turkey Burgers.  They always lack flavor and taste rather boring.  I have tried several variations on a plain turkey burger but was never happy.  Today, I tried doing something different and finally, I love, LOVE this Asian Turkey Burger.  It was juicy and flavorful!!!  Winner, Winner, Turkey Dinner!!!

This recipe was inspired by a couple I found on Allrecipes.   Of course, as I always do, I tweaked the recipe to get the most possible flavor.

You Need:

Whisk the egg and soy sauce together in a large bowl. Add the cilantro, thinly sliced green onions, minced garlic and ginger and freshly ground black pepper. Mix to combine.

Add the ground turkey, bread crumbs and mix well.  Form into 3 or 4 patties.  Three patties (1/3 lb) is perfect for those with a hearty appetite.

Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium heat with a tablespoon of Lemon Grapeseed Oil. Place the patties into the hot skillet. Season with kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper and garlic powder.  Let the patties brown on each side, turning only once or twice until there is no pink in the center. Approximately 10-14 minutes.  Turkey burgers are done when they reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

Note: These Asian Turkey Burgers can also be grilled. Serve on a bun with your favorite sides.  Don’t want burgers, make a meatloaf instead.

I was going to add some Lemongrass to the patties, but I didn’t have any, so I used Lemon Grapeseed Oil to cook the burgers in the pan.  It seemed like a perfect way to get some lemon flavor added and much easier to deal with than Lemongrass.  I believe it help build additional flavor into the burgers.
